A little care helps keep your jewellery looking its best. Follow these simple tips to protect your favourite pieces.
Put your jewellery on last when getting ready, after applying perfume, lotions, sunscreen and other beauty products.
Remove jewellery before showering, swimming, exercising, cleaning or sleeping. Avoid contact with chemicals, salt water and chlorinated water.
Gently wipe your jewellery with a soft, dry cloth after wearing it to remove oils and surface residue.
Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals and vigorous polishing. Only use specialist cleaning products or equipment if they are suitable for your piece’s materials, finish and stones.
Store your jewellery in a dry place, away from humidity and direct sunlight. Keep pieces separately in soft pouches or individual compartments to help prevent scratches and tangling.
Fasten necklace and bracelet clasps before storing them.
Avoid pulling, bending or knocking your jewellery, particularly delicate chains, settings and decorative details. Check clasps and settings occasionally, and stop wearing a piece if anything feels loose or damaged.
Finishes can naturally change with wear. How quickly this happens depends on the materials, how often a piece is worn and how it is cared for.
